A few books that have relevance in our lives right now....

All In A Day by Cynthia Rylant

The bold graphics and poignant text remind us to live in the moment and appreciate the specialness of each day.

Mama, Is It Summer Yet?

And at the same time, dreaming of summer days and juicy berries... almost here!

Carrot Soup by John Segal

Having recently planted our garden carrots, Skoogie especially connects with this book as she waits and waits for the carrots to be ready at the end of the summer. There is a special request to make the carrot soup recipe at the end of the book at harvest time.

Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak

With the rainy days, we'll warm up with a little Chicken Soup and Rice and Sendak's classics. Upon his recent passing, I was reminded of the hours I spent reading The Nutshell Library. The small books are just the right size for little hands and perfect for learning numbers, letters, and months of the year! It's found a special home in our collection now too!

This Is Ireland by M. Sasek

Written in the 1960s, much of the series was re-released five years ago. It provides a nice introduction for the kids as we plan for a summer trip to Ireland. But the series is a great way to travel the world without even leaving your living room.

What are you reading these days?
